Course Spotlight : Ligature Training

Author name
Having ligature awareness training and responding to incidents in a professional and timely fashion can and does save lives. Hanging is the main method of suicide for service users, and this may involve suspending the body from a ligature point. This does not always have to be from height.

Ligature awareness training is designed to support staff who are looking after adults / young people who are at risk of attempting suicide or self-harm by several means including the application of a ligature.

What is Ligature Training?
Learners will gain practical skills and knowledge to recognise self-harm and ligature injuries, treat a casualty and to safely remove someone from suspension.
.
Aims of the course:
Ligature training is delivered to up-skill and empower staff to recognise and identify possible ligature points/and what can be used as a ligature. This can help them implement control measures to support an individual who is at risk from Ligature.

Objectives:
By the end of the course, delegates should have a better understanding of their company policies, procedures and guidelines relating to ligatures. Delegates will also gain practical knowledge and skills to enable them to safely and securely rescue an individual who has ligatured using a range of Ligature Cutters., also the procedures for cleaning / sharpening after use.
Understanding that it is a crime scene.

If you and your staff would benefit from receiving ligature training then please contact us to discuss.
