CAN launches New On Site Training for 2019
Food In Care
CAN Training are pleased to announce we are partnering with 'Food In Care' to be delivering this new on site course in 2019.
Children in Care often come into care with a poor nutritional status and can suffer with food anxieties caused by their adverse experiences including abuse and neglect. They also can develop food behaviour issues during care placements due to the stress associated with an unknown environment where they might feel insecure or excluded. This course is aimed to support carers on the subject of food within both the context of physical and mental health.
Benefits of Attending
Participants will acquire practical knowledge about a healthy and balanced diet and how food impacts on health, behaviour and prevention of diseases. Participants will also be equipped with tools and greater levels of confidence to address complex food behaviour issues in order to build positive relationships with children and improve placement stability.
Programme Highlights
·Developing the skills to look beyond children’s behaviour to understand the root causes of problematic behaviour with food
·Understanding of the fundamental impact food has on the relationships and dynamics within a care setting
·Food practices have significant potential for creating an environment where children can begin to feel part of a family unit
·Understanding of how food is used socially to communicate thoughts, actions and beliefs
Who Should Attend
The course is aimed at anyone who has a direct or indirect role in, and responsibility for, promoting the quality of life of children in care. The course is recommended for foster carers, family and friends, carers, residential staff, prospective adopters, social workers, support staff and managers, LAC nurses and family support workers.
